How we select formulas, verify calculations, and maintain trustworthy health content

Last updated: August 2026

In short: Your Health Calculators publishes educational tools built on established clinical formulas and peer-reviewed research. We distinguish wellness calculators from clinical screening tools, review content on a regular schedule, and correct errors promptly. Our tools do not replace professional medical advice.

1. Purpose and Scope

This policy describes how Your Health Calculators (“we”, “our”, “us”) creates, verifies, and updates calculator content and supporting educational material. It applies to all tools on yourhealthcalculators.com, including free public calculators and optional account-based Health Dashboard features.

2. How We Select Formulas

Each calculator is built around a published, widely accepted formula or validated screening score. Before development, we identify the primary reference — for example:

  • Clinical practice guidelines (e.g., ADA, AHA/ACC, KDIGO, WHO)
  • Validated risk scores (e.g., Framingham, ASCVD, FIB-4, GAD-7)
  • Established physiological equations (e.g., Mifflin-St Jeor, CKD-EPI)
  • Peer-reviewed original research when no single guideline applies

We do not invent proprietary scoring systems for clinical topics. When multiple valid approaches exist, we document which version we implement and why.

3. Accepted Sources

We prioritize authoritative, evidence-based sources:

  • Peer-reviewed journals indexed in PubMed or equivalent
  • National and international clinical guidelines from recognized medical bodies
  • Standard medical textbooks and reference ranges used in labs
  • Government health agencies (e.g., CDC, NIH, NHS) for population guidance

We do not rely on unverified blogs, social media, or affiliate marketing content as primary sources for clinical calculators. General wellness articles may cite reputable secondary sources when appropriate.

4. Who Creates and Verifies Content

Calculator logic, explanatory text, and FAQs are written by our editorial team. Implementation is reviewed for formula accuracy, unit handling, edge cases, and alignment with the cited reference.

We are not a medical organization and do not provide clinical care. Where sensitive clinical topics are involved — such as cardiovascular risk, kidney function, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), thyroid screening, or PCOS risk — content follows stricter review standards described in this policy. When qualified medical or scientific reviewers contribute, their credentials are disclosed on this page or in the relevant content.

5. Medical vs. Wellness Calculators

We classify tools into two broad categories:

  • Wellness calculators — nutrition, fitness, sleep timing, body composition estimates, and general lifestyle planning. These use population formulas and are intended for self-awareness and education.
  • Clinical screening calculators — disease risk scores, lab-based indices, organ function estimates, validated mental-health screeners, and reproductive or women's health screening tools. These may inform conversations with a clinician but are not diagnoses.

Clinical screening calculators display a review notice and use enhanced structured data (MedicalWebPage schema) to signal their educational, non-diagnostic nature.

6. Review and Update Schedule

We review calculator formulas and supporting content when:

  • Major clinical guidelines are updated
  • Users or clinicians report a suspected error
  • We add new inputs, thresholds, or interpretation bands
  • As part of our periodic site-wide content review (currently July 2026)

Routine wellness calculators are reviewed at least annually. Clinical screening calculators are prioritized for review when guideline changes affect thresholds or interpretation.

7. Corrections and Feedback

If you believe a formula, threshold, or explanation is incorrect, please contact us via our Contact page. Include the calculator name, the issue you observed, and any supporting reference if available. We investigate reported issues promptly and update affected pages when a correction is confirmed. Material corrections may update the “last reviewed” date on affected calculators.

8. Limitations

All calculator outputs are estimates based on the data you enter and published population-level models. They cannot account for every individual factor — genetics, medications, comorbidities, lab methodology, or acute illness. See our Medical Disclaimer for full limitations. AI-generated Dashboard reports follow the same educational standard and are not clinical assessments.
